Assists in developing and enhancing sales and marketing opportunities for retail farmers markets, organic producers, agritourism enterprises and direct marketers, including farmers markets, roadside stands, restaurateurs and specialty food stores. Activities include focusing on entrepreneurial development and consumer outreach programs through educational workshops, seminars, consumer and trade events and providing point-of-sale materials. Growers and marketers, as well as retailers and chefs, can take advantage of Virginia Grown promotional programs conducted by VDACS. These promotions include media advertising and special events throughout the season. DMS works closely with the Virginia Tourism Corporation, Virginia Tech, Virginia State University and statewide Extension Agents.
